The exhibition «Odesshchina: from province to region»

   In the Odessa Historical Museum opened an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Odessa region. It presents more than 100 cartographic, documentary and photographic materials.

   At the opening spoke director of the museum Vera Vladimirovna Solodova, Deputy Director for Science Yurii Aleksandrovich Slusar, head of department Oksana Igorevna Krivokhatskaya, who told about the establishment in 1932 the Odessa province.

   In February 2012 marks 80 years of formation of the Odessa region. It was an important stage of the process of administrative-territorial arrangement of the Black Sea region.

   IV Extraordinary Session of the All-Ukrainian Central Executive Committee of the XII convocation its decision of February 9, 1932 has formed in Ukraine five regions, including Odessa region. It consisted of four cities directly subordinated to the region (Odessa, Kirovograd, Mykolayiv, Kherson) and 46 districts.

   During 1930-1940-s the territory of area and its boundaries changed. In 1954, with the liquidation of of Izmail region, which existed from 1940, Odessa region has acquired modern shape.

   Collection of the Odessa Historical Museum has the original exhibits that reflect the process of administrative reforming of region as an important component of its economic and cultural progress.
